2026 Kia Sorento: What's New

The 2026 Kia Sorento adds standard safety equipment across the lineup, a revised X-Line appearance package, and updated PHEV pricing for the federal credit.

The 2026 Kia Sorento is a focused update year. The fourth-generation platform introduced for 2021 carries over, with Kia making targeted improvements to standard equipment, exterior appearance options, and the PHEV's federal credit positioning. The lineup now standardizes Highway Driving Assist II on all trims from EX and above, and the X-Line appearance package gains revised front and rear fascias.

What changed for 2026

  • Highway Driving Assist II standard on EX and above — previously required the SX Prestige package to get the full lane-centering and adaptive cruise suite; now included on all EX trim configurations
  • X-Line front and rear fascia revised — bolder grille treatment, revised skid plates, and X-Line-specific 18-inch alloy wheels in a new dark bronze finish
  • PHEV federal credit confirmed for 2026 — EX PHEV AWD and above qualify for the full $7,500 IRA federal credit; verify at irs.gov before purchase as eligibility is subject to income limits and battery sourcing compliance
  • New interior color: Ebony Black — available on EX and above alongside the existing Ivory/Black dual-tone; replaces Beige which is discontinued
  • Standard 10.25-inch infotainment on all trims from LX — previously, LX had a smaller 8-inch unit; the larger screen is now base
  • SX Prestige adds heated second-row outboard seats as standard (previously optional); panoramic roof remains standard
  • Hybrid system unchanged — 1.6L turbo hybrid (227 hp combined AWD), 33 mpg combined AWD, 3,500 lb tow rating

Third-row seating (7 passengers) is available on LX AWD, EX Hybrid, SX Hybrid, and X-Line SX Prestige. Third-row availability on PHEV trims is discontinued for 2026 — the PHEV battery pack occupies the space used by the third-row fold mechanism.

How it fits in the market

The Sorento's 2026 update shores up the only meaningful gap vs the Hyundai Santa Fe — the Santa Fe already offered the larger infotainment screen standard, and now the Sorento matches it from LX. The key Sorento differentiators remain its optional third row and the longest powertrain warranty in the segment (10 years/100,000 miles).

At $40,990 for the EX Hybrid AWD, the Sorento sits class="relative z-10",500–$2,000 below the equivalent Toyota RAV4 Hybrid configuration. The 4 mpg combined disadvantage (Sorento at 33 mpg vs RAV4 Hybrid at 37 mpg AWD) costs about $200/year in fuel — the Sorento's lower price closes that gap in three years.

Assembly: Sorento PHEV is assembled in South Korea, but the battery sourcing qualifies for the IRA credit under the current compliance schedule. Verify before purchase.

Current incentives

  • $500 dealer cash on EX and SX trims through June 30
  • 4.99% APR for 60 months on non-PHEV trims
  • PHEV: $7,500 federal credit on EX PHEV AWD and above — reduces effective price of EX PHEV to approximately $38,190; verify eligibility at irs.gov
  • No lease subvention programs active in June
